An Israeli soldier knocks on the door of a middle-class family to announce that their soldier son has been killed in action. The wife faints, and the husband is plunged into a grief that leaves him with no escape, resorting to self-harm to cope. The couple is devastated and struggling to accept reality and arrange the funeral when the military sends another notification, revealing that they had earlier informed the wrong family; it was another soldier with the same name as their son who had died.
