A group of porters led by Brother Gong was ambushed by an old man in a temple while passing through a mountain pass. A fierce battle ensued, resulting in Gong injuring his ankle. The porters carried Gong to the temple, where porter Xiao Liuzi instructed a woman to take good care of Gong. Soon after, a severely injured Xiao Liuzi returned with news that the Eastern devils had entered the mountains and captured many of their brothers. Gong went out to gather herbs for Xiao Liuzi but returned to find Xiao Liuzi and the woman in an embrace, which made Gong very angry. The Eastern devils had already arrived, and Gong vowed to block their path. The woman also joined the fight but tragically was killed. Xiao Liuzi reported the woman's death to Gong, and together they charged into the flames.
