Danggui (played by Wei Zi) is intercepted while eloping with his lover, almost losing his life. Fortunately, he is rescued by the kind Uncle Fangfeng, who saves him from danger. Following Uncle Fangfeng, Danggui becomes a foot porter and earns a living thanks to his strong physique. By chance, Danggui encounters the unfortunate Liulan (played by Chi Peng), who has just escaped from the bandit Heigutou (played by Ge You) with her daughter Yingzi.
