Chala (played by Armando Valdes Freire) was born into a poor family at the bottom of society. His father left him at an early age, and his mother, deeply troubled by drugs, had no time to care for or pay attention to Chala. Forced to fend for himself, Chala survives by training fighting dogs, which results in his very cold and violent character. At school, everyone believes Chala is a hopeless case, except for his homeroom teacher, Carmela (played by Alina Rodríguez), who thinks Chala is just a kind boy desperately yearning for love. When Carmela falls ill and needs to be hospitalized, a new teacher takes over her class. The new teacher is not a patient person; he misinterprets Chala's actions and ultimately sends him to a juvenile detention center.
