Six children from five countries, including the UK, China, and the USA, arrived in Maruko's (voiced by Tarako) hometown of Shimizu City. Andrea from Italy (voiced by Taishi Nakagawa) temporarily stayed at Maruko's house. Maruko and her friends attended school with the foreign kids and also traveled together to Osaka and Kyoto on weekends. At first, Maruko felt overwhelmed by Andrea's enthusiasm, but after learning the reason for his visit to Japan, they began to get along harmoniously.
