In a vibrant 19th-century Mexican town, the Gypsy girl Yesenia (played by Jacqueline Andere) and her companions revel in song and dance. She is proud and intelligent, like a thorny rose, and often faces discrimination from white people. Consequently, Yesenia occasionally steals money to punish those who exploit their power, unaware of her own complicated background.
