This film tells the rise and fall of the extreme leftist terrorist organization "Red Army Faction" in Germany during the 1970s. Led by Andreas Baader (played by Moritz Bleibtreu) and Ulrike Meinhof (played by Martina Gedeck), the German anarchist group "Red Army Faction" engaged in extreme leftist terrorist activities starting in 1972.
