The girl Giselle's beautiful singing echoes through the forest, and the little animals softly join in, captivating the prince. Thus, the prince and the girl fall in love at first sight, preparing for their grand wedding. However, the evil queen, in a bid to retain her power, intervenes and sends Giselle to the streets of New York City in the 21st century. Giselle (played by Amy Adams) wanders lost amidst the hustle and bustle of New York, with no one knowing she is a real princess. Terrified and unable to find anyone to help her, she is fortunate to be taken in by kind-hearted lawyer Robert (played by Patrick Dempsey). Gradually, the princess's pure heart touches the originally stern lawyer, and by coincidence, the two grow fond of each other.
