The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Charles Wilford. The story is set in Italy in 1970, where an American art critic (played by Kloss) and a woman traveling through Europe (played by Debicki) contemplate stealing art when they visit an art collector in Italy (role still being cast). Walken plays an art tycoon named Jerome Debney.
