A young woman played by Louise Brooks constantly faces misfortune... Her father is a fickle man, and his apprentice pharmacist naturally flirts around. Under the director's arrangement, Taimilian becomes a sprite, sometimes fallen and sometimes noble. She is sent to a girls' reformatory by her family for being pregnant out of wedlock, and a wealthy young friend of the family rescues her but cannot support her, leading her to an inevitable fate in a low-class bar. Until her father's death allows her to reclaim his inheritance, she ends up giving it all to her cruel stepmother, who has two children, and she herself becomes a model of virtue adorned with a moral halo.
