Jeff Lebowski, nicknamed "The Dude" (played by Jeff Bridges), is a laid-back middle-aged slacker whose biggest pastime is bowling with his two equally inept friends, Walter (played by John Goodman) and Donny (played by Steve Buscemi). One day, a group of thugs mistakenly identify him as a millionaire with the same name in town and threaten him, even urinating on his rug. After being unjustly wronged, The Dude seeks compensation from the wealthy man (played by David Huddleston) but ends up stealing a rug from him on a whim. A few days later, the millionaire asks The Dude for help because his young wife, Bunny (played by Tara Reid), has been kidnapped. The Dude is tasked with delivering the ransom to the kidnappers, thus getting involved in a ridiculous crime caper with his two friends...
