In 1962, the young Lin Chusan (played by Mo Shaocong) and his aunt Xiu Yi (played by Bao Qijing) arrived in Hong Kong with the tidal wave of mainland refugees. With no one to rely on, Chusan met the powerful local figure Brother Quan (played by Cheng Kui'an) during the riots, who took him in as an adopted son, making Chusan and Quan's son Shapey (played by Andy Lau) sworn brothers. After Quan was killed by his enemies, Chusan and Shapey were left to depend on others. Chusan was forced into drug addiction after hiding the boss's drugs. Years later, after leaving rehab, Chusan met a female student named Amei (played by Luo Meiwei), and he fell in love with her at first sight, leading to a quick marriage due to an unexpected pregnancy. At the wedding, Shapey risked everything to save Chusan's face, but shortly after the banquet, the brothers were imprisoned for robbery and injuring a police officer. In prison, they realized that the life of a little brother offered no future, so after being released, they turned to loan sharking and pimping, leading them down another abyss…
