Following the conclusion of the TV series "On the Wrong Track", Liang Xiaotang (played by Xie Tianhua) is found guilty of murdering Su Xingbo (played by Huang Zongze) and sentenced to life imprisonment. In prison, Liang meets university professor Huo Tianren (played by Wu Zhenyu), who appears gentle and conflict-averse but can capture the most ruthless individuals with psychological traps, like "Juchuan" (played by Lin Xue). In reality, the professor is a high-IQ criminal psychologist skilled in cold reading, capable of understanding others' psychological activities and secrets, silently controlling them. A mysterious woman (played by Wen Yongshan) visits Liang Xiaotang in prison; she belongs to a higher-level security bureau than the police. It turns out that Liang Xiaotang's imprisonment is part of an undercover role. The day of the murder of Su Xingbo was orchestrated by someone else. The deputy director of the security bureau (played by Mai Changqing) suspects that the entire case is related to a corrupt police gang hidden within the police force, so he uses Liang's imprisonment to launch an investigation.
