During the Anti-Japanese War, a group of outlaws gathered in the northern plains. Led by their leader Fang Youwang (played by Huang Xiaoming), they established an underground kingdom, living by robbery. One day, they kidnapped a bridegroom Gao Dongliang (played by Zhang Yi) who was on his way to get married. Unexpectedly, Gao Dongliang turned out to be a tough man, quickly winning over the entire gang with his courage and wit, becoming the "second in command."
