A fierce storm triggers a global cooling phenomenon, with snowfall and freezing conditions bringing city operations to a standstill, plunging the world into a frozen state. The New York City government is mobilizing the public to seek shelter in the bunker at Mathis Air Force Base, hoping citizens can avoid disaster when a larger storm hits. Brie is eager to collect data on the storm's anomalies to send to her scientist parents and contribute to understanding the storm's cause, so she and her boyfriend Tyler drive to catch the storm's center.
