This is a world outside of reality, completely unaware of what a lie is. People work and live normally, with every word spoken by everyone being the truth. A young man named Mark (played by Ricky Gervais) who has just experienced unemployment, heartbreak, and poverty discovers this secret one day—he tells a lie that increases the money in his account, and the people who have never encountered a lie believe him completely. Tasting the sweetness of deceit, Mark begins to exploit this secret, continuously lying to obtain whatever he desires. As Mark's lies become more and more outrageous, more and more people believe him, leading the situation to spiral out of control. Mark gradually realizes that tricking the woman he loves, Jennifer (played by Jennifer Garner), into bed with "the apocalypse is coming" is not what he truly wants; the only way to attain love is still through honesty…
