Former NFL player Steve Gleason was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at the age of 34. Two weeks later, his wife discovered she was pregnant, and Gleason began documenting their lives with daily footage, capturing the birth of their son, their family's life, and the progression of Gleason's illness. As their child was born and grew, Gleason became increasingly weak, eventually becoming completely paralyzed from the neck down and losing his ability to speak. Despite being diagnosed with a terminal illness, Gleason never gave up on life and found a new direction—he founded a nonprofit organization and fund in his name to improve and help the lives of other ALS patients.
