The Danvers State Mental Hospital is not far from Boston, built in the 1860s, housing more than two thousand patients at its peak. It is now abandoned, awaiting reconstruction for other uses. Before the reconstruction, the asbestos needs to be removed, and a company specialized in hazardous material removal has taken on this task. Five men, including the company owner Gordon, enter this eerie giant structure. Gordon has a wife and a newborn daughter at home, and he is striving to support them, so after taking on the job, he promises to complete in one week what would normally take two or three weeks; Phil is a small-time leader, using marijuana after his girlfriend left him for someone else; Hank is the guy who took his girlfriend, an arrogant gambler who constantly taunts Phil; also going along are law student Mike and Gordon's nephew Jeff, a simple guy.
