The new film "The Post," about the Pentagon Papers leak, brings together Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Meryl Streep. Spielberg will participate as director and producer, with Hanks and Streep playing the lead roles. This film, which marks the first collaboration between the three Hollywood giants, will recreate the famous Pentagon Papers leak on screen. In 1971, a Defense Department official leaked secret documents revealing the U.S. government's involvement in the Vietnam War to publications like The New York Times and The Washington Post. Before the documents were made public, the U.S. Department of Defense attempted to prevent their exposure but ultimately failed. The Pentagon Papers incident marked the beginning of the discrediting of the Nixon administration, which ultimately led to the Watergate scandal and Nixon's downfall. The protagonists of "The Post" are Ben Bradley, the editor of The Washington Post, and publisher Kay Graham, who played crucial roles in the Pentagon Papers case. Hanks will portray Bradley, a character who previously appeared in the classic film "All the President's Men," while Streep will play Graham. Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment will co-finance the film with 20th Century Fox. This marks the fifth collaboration between Spielberg and Hanks. Spielberg is currently busy with post-production on "Ready Player One," and it's still unknown when "The Post" will begin production.
