In 1845, the young Victor and his brother James awakened their potential during a sudden dispute among their elders. In a moment of panic, James killed their unknown biological father, and from that point on, the brothers became wandering warriors on the battlefield. Using their immortal and indestructible bodies and beast-like talents, they wreaked havoc in wars throughout the ages until they met Major Striker and joined his special forces for people with abilities. James (Hugh Jackman) soon grew tired of killing the weak, left the team and Victor (Liev Schreiber), and went into hiding with his girlfriend Kayla in the woods, working as a lumberjack. Six years later, James was shocked to learn that his former super-powered teammates were being killed, and the killer was none other than his brother Victor.
