When Corinne (played by Vera Farmiga) was young, she was curious about everything around her, faced many growing pains, and encountered religion. As a newly adult, she quickly fell in love, rushed into pregnancy, and naively entered marriage, marrying a rock musician and becoming a housewife, giving up her writing dreams and religious beliefs. Life after marriage was not as easy as Corinne had hoped; she often felt neglected and lost as she had to accompany her husband and his group of musician friends on tour while taking care of a crying baby. During a tour, a car accident occurred, and after much struggle, the family survived, rekindling Corinne's inclination towards faith. Everything started out seemingly joyful, but as she faced doctrinal constraints, the brain cancer of a close friend, and the emergence of an affair, Corinne's faith wavered... The film is adapted from Carolyn Briggs' autobiographical novel "The Dark World."
