This film is based on the life of James Gralton, the leader of the Irish Communist Party, and tells the story of his return from exile in the United States in 1933 to reopen "Jimmy's Hall." The "Jimmy's Hall" refers to a dance hall established by James Gralton in Effrinagh, Ireland, where countless free thinkers gathered to learn, debate, dream, and entertain themselves. However, "Jimmy's Hall" is likely to be the last narrative film directed by Ken Loach. As early as August this year, Loach's long-time collaborator and film producer Rebecca O'Brien hinted to the media that due to age and energy reasons, Ken Loach would only make documentaries and television series in the future, and it is unlikely he will direct narrative films again.
