Charlie (played by Paul Hogan) is a stubborn and willful old man whose dissatisfaction with life has caused him to lose his enthusiasm, spending each day in melancholy. Seeing his father’s poor mental state, Boots (played by Shane Jacobson), feeling anxious despite their many disputes and distant relationship, decides to take action to change the situation. Boots drives Charlie in a car, deceiving him into thinking they are going fishing, while their true destination is over 3000 miles away at Cape York. When Charlie discovers he has been tricked, he becomes furious, but under his son’s insistence, he reluctantly endures the situation. Along the way, a girl named Jesse (played by Morgan Griffin) hitches a ride with them; her optimism and cheer gradually change the tense atmosphere between father and son, resolving years of misunderstandings and grudges.
