Oscar (voiced by Reiko Tajima) is a noblewoman who, due to the absence of male heirs in her family, is raised as a boy from a young age. At the age of fourteen, a political marriage is arranged between Austria and France, with Austrian Princess Marie (voiced by Miyuki Ueda) about to marry French Prince Louis (voiced by Yoshito Anno). Oscar's father sends her to the palace guard, assigning her the important task of protecting Marie, all to secure a place for the family amidst the bloody court struggles. Later, Oscar and Marie meet the young nobleman Fersen, and both fall in love with the charming aristocrat. However, Fersen chooses Marie, his love for her being deeply sincere and profound, which brings Oscar immense pain as she watches this unfold. With the emperor's death, Louis ascends to the throne, and Marie becomes queen, while her affair with Fersen gradually becomes impossible to hide.
