To save her sister who is about to vanish, the Jade Emperor's youngest daughter, Xiao Qi (played by Lin Yichen), secretly descends to the mortal realm to find her sister (played by Guo Feili)'s lover, Lao Fuzi (played by Xie Junhao). By chance, she meets Tong Yuan (played by Hu Ge), who is flying a kite. Fearless Xiao Qi develops feelings for the kind-hearted Tong Yuan during her time on earth. However, when the Jade Emperor (played by Xu Jinjian) discovers that Xiao Qi has slipped down to the mortal world, she is forced to return to the heavenly realm, separated from Tong Yuan. Moved by Tong Yuan's integrity and kindness, the Jade Emperor decides to strip Xiao Qi of her celestial powers so she can learn from Tong Yuan in the mortal world, but is concerned that Xiao Qi, who knows nothing of love, might fall for him, and thus removes her emotional roots. In the mortal world, Xiao Qi strives to complete the tasks assigned by the Jade Emperor to quickly return to heaven, gaining more spells from her magical pouch.
