In 1989 Tel Aviv, young university student Boaz (played by Yoav Reuveni) has just returned from military service and is studying languages at university, with a beautiful girlfriend, Noa (played by Yehuda Nahari). He checks his mailbox daily for scholarship news, but one day he finds an anonymous letter: "Dear Boaz, please don’t ask me who I am or how I know you. I think of you constantly, even though we are both men. Writing this letter to you secretly at my desk fills me with shame, but I lack the courage to do more..." Boaz dismisses it as a prank and crumples the letter, but upon reading it, he feels an inexplicable flush and heartbeat. More anonymous love letters disturb his inner peace. Angrily wanting to find out who his admirer is, he begins to reflect on his past and his time in the military. As he investigates further, he discovers the same desires lurking within himself... The "Snail in the Rain" is the first feature film by Israeli director Yariv Mozer, based on the 1995 Hebrew novel "The Garden of Dead Trees" by Yossi Avni-Levy, who was formerly the Israeli ambassador to Yugoslavia.
