"Rent," the rock musical, became the seventh-longest-running show in Broadway history on March 1, 2006, while also receiving acclaim from the Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize. This musical is adapted from Puccini's opera "La Bohème," focusing on a group of impoverished artists and musicians struggling to survive in New York's Alphabet City, even under the shadow of AIDS (which is tuberculosis in "La Bohème").
